Passmark

 In the Dogs Australia Grooming Certification program, candidates progress through three levels—C (Novice), B (Intermediate), and A (Advanced)—with specific pass marks and assessments for each level. This structured approach ensures that groomers develop the skills necessary for success in their careers.

Level C – Novice

•    Open to any groomer who grooms professionally.
•    It is recommended that participants complete an accredited grooming course prior to certification through dog grooming associations.
•    Pass mark: 70%


Judge's Assessment:
•    The judge will evaluate the candidate's understanding of basic grooming techniques such as safe handling, restraint, and effective use of clippers and scissors for styling a canine profile.
•    Participants must demonstrate their skills in using clippers, blades, and scissors within the time frame.
•    During the examination, the judge may ask questions regarding the dog's basic anatomy or breed history.

Level B – Intermediate

•    Participants must have obtained the Level C certification to enroll for this level.
•    Pass mark: 80%


Judge's Assessment:
•    The focus will be on a more advanced understanding of grooming techniques, including safe handling, restraint, and the ability to enhance the canine profile using clippers and scissors effectively.
•    Participants must show proficiency in using clippers, blades, and scissors within the specified time frame.
•    Judges may ask questions about the dog’s anatomy or breed history during the examination.

Level A – Advanced

•    Participants must have obtained the Level B certification to qualify for this level.
•    Pass mark: 90%


Judge's Assessment:
•    Candidates must demonstrate safe handling and styling in line with the breed profile of the dog being groomed.
•    Points will be awarded for technical skills and techniques in using scissors, clippers, or stripping knives, with attention to the precision of the results on the coat.
•    The more detailed and refined the grooming work, the higher the score.
